Outdoor Classroom
I'm quite excited to finally break through the invisible barrier that has kept us from sharing work over these last two years. Sometimes I feel like the runt of the litter, doing little things in providence while you've all moved on to the big leagues in cities with subways, china towns, and moose? (sorry duluth) but I'm happy to put all of our endeavors in one place. Anyway, I just hope we all can make a little contribution to give others some insight into how we spend our days and the projects that keep us busy.
Last Spring: So finally after many months of working with George Harvey and MET High School students, we are mighty close to finishing our environmental classroom. Our students worked with SSCLT and Trees2020 and designed an outdoor learning space that those organizations could use to teach workshops (compost 101, rain barrel making, etc.) or environmental job trainings. We are somewhat unsuccessfully trying to raise money for a roof and hope to have it up soon. On the up side, a lot of the lumber was actually donated by Arnold Lumber, and the siding was all ripped down from old cedar palates.
